NBC News published an article last week on the layoff of thousands of Microsoft employees. Now, we normally think of layoffs as a bad thing (and I’m sure the folks being laid off think it is) but for the Small-Medium Sized Business (SMB) this is fantastic news. The reason behind the layoffs is the explosive growth of Microsoft’s Cloud business, particularly their Azure tools, and the closing down of traditional server and desktop hosted applications. Azure sales in the U.S. have grown by 98% over the last year – almost doubled! The rate of business adoption for this tool set is unprecedented.
Why is that good for your business? Well, for those of you who may not know, Microsoft is rapidly closing out their on-premises application and server software divisions. They’ve made it very plain that their goal is to move to an entirely cloud-based platform in the very near future. How near? Well, by 2019 you will no longer be able to purchase stand-alone MS Office products, they will be selling only the cloud-based Office 365 products. With this staggering cloud growth, Microsoft will be pushing even harder to move everyone off their current on-premise servers, backups, and disaster recovery tools and onto the Azure platform. The benefit to you as a business is that Azure is completely scalable to your needs, automatically updated for the best security available, and usually costs less than 1/3 of what you’re currently spending for on-premise systems right now. That doesn’t even include the time/cost savings of freeing your IT group from constantly updating/patching all your servers and systems.
It doesn’t matter if you’re an Architectural firm, a lighting manufacturer, a Physician, or a General Contracting firm – making the switch to Azure is a must. Not only will it save you a staggering amount of money each year, but your data will be far more secure than anything you could ever provide in your own facility. Azure also gives you the ability to scale up/down on the fly and you pay only for the data storage/transfer you actually use, instead of over-specifying and paying for server functionality you don’t need, “just to be safe”. If those points aren’t enough to convince you, then consider the fact that you’ll never need to buy servers, or server software, ever again.
The cloud is no longer “the future” of the business world. It’s actively here: your competitors and clients are using it, and you are being left behind. Servers, security, backups, website and SQL-hosting, even true fail-over Disaster Recovery, are available to you for pennies on the dollar compared to what you’re spending today. What are you waiting for? Reach out to ZenTek today and we can help you put together a plan to move you onto the Azure system in just a few days.
Stop falling behind and start leading the pack!
