Discover BricsCAD Flexible Licensing
Autodesk® has made a public announcement that states from August 7, 2020, on your next subscription renewal, you can trade each of your network licenses for two “named user” subscriptions. For customers leveraging network licenses today, migrating to a named user licensing scheme will be an expensive and time-consuming ordeal.
BricsCAD® is available in single, volume and network licenses, as a subscription or as a perpetual (permanent) license.
Autodesk®: Transition to Named Users
Starting August 7, 2020, Network license users can trade-in one network license for two named user subscriptions on their next renewal.
Named user licenses are linked to a single, “named” user; e.g. “email@example.com”.
Named user licensing means that companies will need to purchase Subscriptions for every user who uses the software - even for casual use.
Administering named user plans puts an additional load on CAD Managers and IT staff.
If you support more than two (2) users with a current network license, you will need to purchase additional subscriptions, at an increased price over last year.
To summarize, Named user licenses are tied to an individual user in your organization. Only the named user can access the software. If they aren’t using it, it sits idle. Legally, it can’t be shared.
Bricsys®: Flexible Licensing Benefits
Bricsys offers single, volume and network licenses. You can buy them (perpetual) or rent them (subscription).
BricsCAD licenses are linked to the company that owns them, not to an individual user.
BricsCAD network licenses can float across a corporate network, covering both dedicated and casual users.
There is no additional administration required to manage BricsCAD licenses.
Bricsys offers an optional low-cost Maintenance program to keep your perpetual software licenses up-to-date. We offer real choice in CAD software licensing.
To summarize, BricsCAD flexible licenses aren’t tied to a user. They are linked to the company that owns them. BricsCAD network licenses can float across your network, to serve both dedicated and casual users. If an employee joins your firm, or leaves your firm, there’s no need to re-assign their license to a new user.
Switch to BricsCAD, and you’ll control your license choices. BricsCAD is available as single, volume and network licenses – subscription or perpetual – the choice is yours.
How Big are the Savings?
Take a look at this example to see how the savings compare when switching from AutoCAD to BricsCAD.
A company has 150 users in two branch offices that share 50 network licenses (these licenses will no longer be supported after August 7, 2020). On their next maintenance renewal, this company must trade in their 50 network seats and will receive 100 named-user subscriptions (a 2:1 ratio).
However, they need to support 150 named-users (3 users per network seat). So they need to purchase 50 additional named-user subscriptions to support the same number of users.
For this example, we'll say that they had a great discount and were able to get additional seats at $1000 per network seat. And we'll add in the new Autodesk Premium Subscription for SSO (which is $300 per user per year).
Based on these details, here is a sample calculation for what this company can expect to pay on their next Autodesk renewal.
New Costs Under Autodesk Named User License Program
Trade 50 network seats for 100 named user subscriptions.
Purchase 50 additional subscriptions (at discounted $1000 per seat).
Purchase 150 Premium Subscription updates (at $300 per user).
In the end, this customer's Autodesk bill went up by $95,000 per year.
Let's take the same company and apply their licenses to BricsCAD and compare the costs.
Costs when moving to BricsCAD
50 network seats of BricsCAD Pro (Year 1)
50 network seats of BricsCAD Pro (year over year on maintenance subscription)
Based on the comparison, this company can replace AutoCAD with BricsCAD and save $62,775 in one year.
When looking at the year over year savings, this company can save $126,025 per year (and this is the retail price of BricsCAD Pro over the Autodesk discount price!).
